Adam Dettrick Architect is a growing practice operating from Mitchell House, a 1920's Art Deco gem overlooking the hustle and bustle of Lonsdale and Elizabeth Streets in Melbourne's CBD. We specialise in residential and commercial projects of any scale, and we are always ready to apply our skills to other types of projects. We undertake work in greater Melbourne and country Victoria, and we are keen to take on interstate projects.

Sketch design
Sketch design breathes life into the ideas of the client and offers a vision of the projects potential. Initially we gain an understanding of the needs and aspirations of the client and look at the opportunities offered by the project site. We then explore a number of options with the client in order to find the preferred design. This design is then further refined and explained with plans, sections and elevations.
Detailed design
In the detailed design stage we develop the sketch design into the final design solution. The drawings have a level of detail suitable for obtaining cost estimates and for lodgement of a town planning application. To speed the planning process we organise pre-application meetings with council and neighbours, and provide comprehensive documentation to satisfy council requirements quickly. We also co-ordinate energy modelling and certification to ensure that
the project complies with energy efficiency regulations.
Construction documentation
To ensure that the intention of the initial design is not lost during construction we prepare drawings, specifications and schedules that are suitable for building permit, tendering and construction.
Contract administration
To help ensure that what is drawn and specified is actually built we can administer the tender process and the construction contract between the client and the builder. This stage includes regular site visits, site meetings, and certification of payments.
Other Services
Often clients are unsure what to do with their property, and we can provide an options study which can help establish key objectives. This involves working with the client to prepare a number of concept plans that consider the opportunities that exist on the site within the context of planning and building regulations.
We can also provide feasibility studies and master planning for developers and institutional clients.
